The goal of St. Camillus Place is to provide a home-like
environment and encourage independent living for adults with developmental
disabilities. Residents are involved in work settings and leisure activities
outside the home, allowing interaction among all members of the community.
St. Camillus Place also serves as a community resource
on mental retardation, providing education and information to interested
individuals.
Individualized Programs
Staff members and consultants construct developmental
programs that help each resident achieve the skill necessary to live, work
and spend leisure time as independently as possible.
During the week, residents particpate in habilitative,
employment and retirement programs at Employment Enterprises, Inc., in
Little Falls. At home, residents learn and share household responsibilities,
such as meal preparation, laundry and cleaning. In all programs, emphasis
is placed on designing activities to suit individual needs of residents.
Residents are encouraged to participate in activities
in the community, including shopping, hair appointments, church or dining
out. Picnics, sporting events, bowling and movies are some of the leisure
activities enjoyed by residents.
